April 21st Friday Forum

Wow what an inspirational story .

Wayne Reicha was our guest speaker today. He told us of his life dealing with his disabilities. Life was never easy for Wayne however he never let his adversities carve out his future. Family stories, humorous events and life changing experiences were part of this excellent Friday Forum program today. Thanks Wayne. You certainly showed us what a positive attitude and fierce determination can achieve.

April 24th – Tea and Tour for $10

Today we visited the shearing shed of West Cloven Hills and listened to Nic Cole recount

stories about this historically significant property & the shearers and their work.

The shed was built in 1851 and burnt out in the Black Thursday fires. Stonemasons got the walls back to 5 feet then walked off the job to try and strike it rich on the Ballarat Goldfields. This story & many more made for a very interesting afternoon. Thanks Nic.

April 28th – Travel Tales

Maureen and John were our Travel Tales presenters today. Having spent time in the Solomon Islands as volunteers, John & Maureen told us about its history, conflicts, cultural diversity & natural beauty & the volunteer work and tourist trips they did while visiting the Solomons. Another excellent U3A afternoon. Thanks heaps Maureen & John.
