April News

April Newsletter

Congratulations to everyone on the start to the year. We have all jumped in enthusiastically and the numbers at our programs are really good. We still must abide by Covid protocol and thank you for your cooperation.

Our AGM was very well attended and Deputy Mayor Jo Beard congratulated our group on 5 fun packed and rewarding years. Our Executive was re-elected unopposed. Our 2021 Committee is myself President, David Mernagh – Secretary, Linda Castaldo – Treasurer, Dominique Fowler – Vice President with Sue McInnes, Don McInnes, Helen James, Anne O’Brien and Anne Corbin as Committee members. We still have one position vacant.

After talking to several members, it would appear that many receive their newsletter online through their smart phones and cannot print them off because they have no printer or other computer. I am a hard copy person and if you want to be also, can I suggest you take your phone to the local library to get information printed off.

COVID rules have eased slightly and so we can now bring shared food to activities. For our Travel Tales and Friday Forum we will go back to a gold coin donation to help with food costs.

A great suggestion came from a member and that was to consider having a “Bring a Friend Day”. So as a result, we will do this and indeed April will be “Bring a Friend Month”. At all activities you are invited to bring a friend(s). If you bring a friend, when booking yourself in, book your friend(s) also. This is a great way for socialisation for everyone and hopefully gain new members.
