At its recent meeting, along with new activities, the Committee looked at the following:
- it was noted that on occasions there is a problem with the group e-mail sent out to members. If more than one e-mail is sent in quick succession from u3acoragamite@gmail.com, the following reject message is received: “There was a problem delivering your message. Too much spam from Google. Try again later”. This only occurs with members that have a bigpond e-mail address in the U3A g-mail contacts. The level of rejection is variable – it can involve all 36 members with a bigpond address or in some cases it has been as low as 6 rejections. The Committee agreed to draw this issue to the attention of the membership and to ask members if they might wish to check with their own ISP to see if there is a problem with their own e-mail settings;
- the issue of costs associated with sending a hard copy newsletter in the mail to members without an e-mail address was discussed. Several options were canvassed including the possibility of an additional fee for printing and postage but it was agreed to revisit this later in the year when the 2023 membership fee is discussed;
- FAREWELL: Chris Honeycombe has been a member of U3A for 6 years and has been the inspiration for four Mah-jong groups. She began with one group at Timboon and that has since expanded to Terang, Cobden and Derrinallum. Chris and Lloyd are moving to Bacchus Marsh and we wish them well in their time ahead. We wish to thank Chris for all she has done in giving so many members an oppotunity to gain a new part of their lives whilst having lots of fun.
Many thanks, Chris from the U3A Corangamite family!
